I love anything Phil Noto draws. ANYTHING. And I’m a big fan of the Scott Snyder x James Tynion IV dynamic duo.

I love every single Robin. That’s right, even Stephanie Brown. (But she took some getting used to). I love the people of Asgard. Thor, Sif, The Warriors Three…

Either My Phil Noto Game of Thrones x Hit Girl Var Cover or my No. 5 statue from Umbrella Academy.

If you could only read one graphic novel for the rest of your life, which one would it be?
Daytripper by Gabriel Ba and Fabio Moon. The art is SO SO amazing and the story will pull at my heartstrings EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
What other things are you a fan of (TV shows, novels, movies, ect)?
I love Magical Girls. So I’ve been re-reading Sailor Moon, watching Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and living the life of a full time magical girl. I watch a load of documentaries and horror films. My favorite being The Thing.
Do you collect anything?
HAIRBOWS. I seriously have a wicked collection. And most of them are comic book / nerdy hairbows. A day without wearing a hairbow, is hardly a day at all.
If you could have any one superpower, what would it be?
What would you use it for? Telekenesis. It seems the most practical since I could use it for everything. Who needs to walk, when i can FLY? Why get up for food, when the food can COME TO ME. The possibilities are endless.
Do you believe there is other life in the universe, and if so, what do you imagine it looks like?
Oh for sure. I just bet we’re not nearly advanced enough for any other life forms to even care about visiting. I bet they looks like someone we can’t even imagine with our puny limited human minds.
Do you go to any conventions?
I go to local ones. So the Wizard World in STL, but Also Kansas City.
Are you a cosplayer? If so, what characters have you cosplayed?
Occasionally I will cosplay. My go-to costume is Robin, but I just made a Mako Mori (from Pacific Rim)! And last year, my Kiki (of Kiki’s Delivery Service) was a hit. I made my broom from scratch! Like a real witch!
Outside of the day job, what other cool stuff are you working on?
Im an illustrator in the St. Louis scene. Ink and Drink Comics is an anthology that local writers and artists are a part of, and every season we put out a new book of short comics based on a different genre.
Tell us an uplifting story about working in your shop!
When I was younger, i connected with Sailor Venus because she wore a mask that looked like glasses. I wore glasses. We were the SAME. Recently, a young girl came in and I told her about the wonderful world of Sailor Moon and she said, “after I read the first book, I’m gonna read Sailor V, because she wears glasses like me”. I nearly cried.
What do you love about being a Valkyrie?
I love that we can talk about comics with each other and not feel like we have to SELL it to people. So often the people i talk to about comics are customers. And although I have made friends with quite a few of the regulars, the goal is to sell. But with the Valkyries we can jab on about our favorite characters because we love them. It’s refreshing. And its also nice to commiserate about being a female in comic retail.
